The Fresh Theatre Company

Gavin Wright is owner and Artistic Director of The Fresh Theatre Company. He was trained at UCT and L.K.School of Arts in Cape Town. After he graduated he founded  Three Dimensions School of Performing Arts in 1989  and started producing works for the school as well as directing productions for various High Schools. His vision was to produce shows that encompassed all three elements of stage; singing, dancing and acting.

He had branches in Swellendam and Riversdale.

In 1993, he started producing his own works and quickly established himself as a playwright. According to Gavin, his forte' has always been comedy and this is very prevalent in his works. In 2000, he renamed his school THE FRESH THEATRE COMPANY.

 He has performed throughout South Africa, produced countless shows and has also  become an accomplished “Mass Choreographer” in South Africa. In 2007 he was commissioned to choreograph the Opening of Parliament’s parade.

Fresh Theatre Company produces on average 3 original shows per year. His aim is to always produce “fresh” productions. He has penned a wide range of works including  “Love in Cyberspace” Little Theatre 2005 “Reflections in a padded Cell” Artscape 2007, “Till Death Us Do Part” Artscape 2007,  In 2008 he Directed and stared in his own production “Twisted Vision” in Greenwhich London.

More recently he has written and produced works such as “Flag of Freedom” the musical at Little Theatre 2008, “Life is rock n roll” Little Theatre 2009 , “Pinocchio” 2010

This year alone he has written, directed  and performed in  “West End to Broadway” Bellville Civic Theatre  and “That’s Life” Bat Theatre and Arts Theatre and will be producing two more shows this year “The Haunted House” and “The Sun Princess” before taking “That’s Life" on a national tour starting in Johannesburg at the Fringe Theatre in March 2012.
